I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the strongest tool that can be utilized in therapy. We will work together to explore narratives from all parts of you. I use curiosity, empathy and humor to develop a safe therapeutic relationship with you (at your pace!), so you may take the skills we use in therapy and use them in your life. Below are the ways in which I work and what you could expect in a session.
Emotion focused: I believe our emotions hold important information for us. I will help you tune in and learn to connect with your emotions, not try to control them.
Experimental: This means we will practice new ways of being and pay close attention to what is happening right now in the therapy room, instead of just talking about new skills to try after session.
Trauma focused: Using EMDR and ego state informed work, we will work to liberate you from past events or relational wounding that are impacting your life now.
Risk taking: Change often requires trying something new. Expect to be gently challenged, always with your consent and goals in mind.
I work with adults and adolescence 13 and older. My practice is rooted in Health at Every Size principles, and I take an anti-diet approach, as I believe all bodies are good and wise, just as they are. I warmly welcome all in my office, including all sexual orientations, genders, races, country of origin, ethnicity, ability, age, and size. I work with folks along all points of the recovery journey and strive to meet you where you are.
