Katherine Elder, PhD

If eating disorders, like anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or dieting and worrying about food, weight & shape feel like they have taken over your life, I can help you regain a sense of balance and peace. There are many unhealthy messages about how our bodies “should” look or what we “should” or “shouldn’t” eat. It is my goal to help guide you back to the inner wisdom of your own body, so that eating begins to feel like a nourishing, and even joyful, experience.

Practice and Approach

I have 30+ years of experience in the treatment of eating disorders and have worked with adults of diverse genders and backgrounds on eating & weight-related concerns. I use evidence-based therapies (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT) that help clients obtain lasting positive change. I use a weight-neutral lens, as well as intuitive eating and body/self awareness approaches to guide clients as they work toward their goals. Even if you feel very stuck in negative cycles, it is possible to find a way out to a more peaceful existence.
Ultimately, my goal is to help you become free from the stress, anxiety and fear that limit life when someone is suffering from an eating disorder or related concerns. There is a path to more freedom; a way for you to be able to turn more of your time and attention to the things that truly bring you joy, meaning and that matter most to you.

My Clients

I work with adult (18+) clients (of all genders, sizes, backgrounds) who are seeking recovery from eating disorders. I have worked with clients with the following diagnoses: anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, T1DM-eating disorder, other specified eating disorder. I have also worked with many clients who may not meet criteria for an eating disorder, but they are simply tired of the dieting cycle and would like to develop a more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.
